Hometown Heroes Banner Program

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs, the Auxiliary, and the Ed Polzine Fund are partnering on a Hometown Heroes Banner Program, which is intended to honor all veterans associated with Valley Springs (current or past residents, or members of Post 131). The banners (2'x4') will be displayed on light posts along Broadway Ave in Valley Springs every July through November. The banners will include a veteran's photo, name, branch of military, and years of service.

If you would like to have yourself, a family member, or a friend recognized, please see the details below to apply. If you want to donate money to help veterans in Valley Springs get banners up, please stop by City Hall or call us at (605) 757-6555.

There is NO DEADLINE for applications. Applications are accepted year-round.

Instructions

Good, clear photos must be provided. Submitting an original photo is best, and all photos will be returned. Digital photos are also welcome. They may be emailed to ricksfsd@gmail.com or editor@bvjournal.info.

The cost of each banner is $150. The Ed Polzine Fund is covering the cost of the brackets for the banners to be displayed. Checks should be made payable to the Ed Polzine Fund.

Applications/photo/fee may be emailed to ricksfsd@gmail.com or editor@bvjournal.info or dropped off or mailed to either Valley Springs City Hall (401 Broadway Ave, Valley Springs, SD 57068) or Brandon Valley Journal Office (1404 E.
