Notary Services

The City of Valley Springs offers free notary services for Valley Springs residents during normal business hours.

To ensure a notary is available, we encourage you to schedule an appointment by calling (605) 757-6555 or emailing valleyspringsasst@outlook.com. While walk-ins are welcome, we cannot guarantee that a notary will be available without an appointment.

Before Your Appointment

To have your document notarized, please be sure to:

  • Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, state ID, military ID, or passport). Your ID cannot be expired.
  • Bring the complete, unsigned document that needs to be notarized. Do not sign the document before your appointment, as the notary must witness your signature unless the document specifically allows otherwise.
  • Ensure all parties whose signatures require notarization are present at the time of notarization and bring their own valid photo identification.
  • Be prepared to take an oath or affirmation if required by the document.

Please note that our notaries are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice or explain the contents of legal documents. If you have questions about your document, please consult the person or organization requesting the notarization or seek legal counsel before your appointment.
